Handling client rejections

Here’s a secret: I get rejected everyday by potential clients. This is how I cope with it.

Receiving a "no" can be challenging, particularly in a service-based business where you are the product. During the early stages of my coaching journey, I used to take rejection personally and felt like I wasn't good enough, leading to a hit on my confidence.

It is extremely difficult to get past my bruised ego but I learnt to shift my perspective and accept that the “no” is a valuable form of feedback that can help me improve. These 3 statements and questions helped me to reframe my beliefs:

#1 It's not a no, it's a not right now

Understanding that timing and circumstances play a significant role in decision-making has allowed me to see that a rejection might not mean a permanent refusal, but rather a postponement.

#2 What does it take to become a yes?

Instead of dwelling on the rejection, I now focus on understanding what factors would lead to a positive response. This helps me refine my approach and offerings.

#3 What can I learn from this to become better?

Every "no" holds lessons that can contribute to my growth and development. By being open to learning from each rejection, I can continuously improve my skills and strategies.

When starting out as a coach or any entrepreneur, it's completely normal to experience self-doubt and not have all the answers. Embracing rejection as an opportunity to learn and evolve is crucial for success. If you want to build the self confidence, emotional resilience and essential skills for business success, I invite you to explore my CoachLaunch program.
