5 success tips for new coaches

How I traded a 6-figure salary to become a full time coach and live a life of alignment and freedom.

5 success tips for new coaches

Two years ago, I made a life-changing decision to leave behind my six-figure corporate job and fully commit to growing my coaching business. Today, my partner Simon and I successfully operate a thriving coaching, mentoring, and training business in Singapore and Mauritius. This journey has allowed us to live a purpose-driven life, aligning our passions with the freedom to choose how we invest our time and energy. The coaching industry has experienced tremendous growth, but it's disheartening that approximately 80% of coaching businesses fail within just two years. As a result, many recently certified coaches feel apprehensive about embarking on their entrepreneurial path.

If you find yourself currently going through coaching certification or have recently graduated, I'd like to share five invaluable lessons I've learned during my journey to help you manage and navigate your own coaching career:

  1. Plan Your Career Transition: Before fully immersing myself in coaching, I spent two years diligently preparing myself financially and building confidence. This strategic approach provided a sturdy foundation for my leap into full-time coaching.

  2. Embrace Iteration and Adaptability: In the business world, perfection is elusive. Embrace experimentation and the art of adaptation. Be agile and avoid becoming too attached to your initial decisions or plans. Flexibility and open-mindedness are essential for growth.

  3. Embrace the Business Side of Coaching: As most coaches begin their journey as solopreneurs, they inevitably find themselves juggling various responsibilities, from copywriting to accounting and sales. Embrace this aspect of the business and find joy in learning new skills.

  4. Commit to Continuous Growth: In the coaching profession, we are the very product we offer. Therefore, prioritize continuous learning and personal development. Staying updated regularly, if not daily, is paramount to serving our clients in the best possible way.

  5. Believe in Yourself and Your Goals: Setting ambitious goals is crucial, but true success comes when our actions align with a genuine belief in our ability to inspire positive change in others. Cultivate unwavering faith in yourself and your capacity to make a difference.

If you are on the cusp of launching your coaching business, I invite you to save time and money through my comprehensive COACH LAUNCH program. It consolidates my learnings, processes, and templates to help coaches successfully launch their business within just 30 days. Remember, embarking on a coaching career is both a thrilling adventure and a rewarding endeavor. By equipping yourself with the right mindset and tools, you can confidently pursue your passion and create a lasting impact on the lives of others.
