Understanding coaching and what you can expect

 What is life coaching?

International Coaching Federation (ICF), the leading global organisation dedicated to advancing the coaching profession, defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential. 

Unlike therapy, counselling, teaching or mentoring - the coach does not provide the client with answers and instead offers powerful questioning, observations and techniques that help the client to shift and take action in their lives. 

When do I need life coaching?

Coaching is particularly useful when you are feeling stuck and need to uncover road blocks such as limiting beliefs that prevent you from living the life that you want. People engage coaches to help with topics like the following:

  • Improve and advance careers

  • Overcome challenging life situations

  • Improve personal relationships

  • Find work life balance

  • Explore your potential and dreams.

How will you help me to achieve my goals?

Coaches are professionally trained to help individuals with effective personal and professional transformation. Coaching enables clients to be aware of their choices, make better decisions, take action, and ultimately use their unique strengths to achieve better results. In my coaching practice I apply Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP) principles and techniques that have been proven to transform, understand and appreciate the person that you are. Through coaching I aim to help clients gain clarity on their situations and encourage behavioural flexibility that will enable them to make the desired changes in their lives. 

What is the coaching process like?

Discovery Session

Right at the start I will contact the client for a discovery session to determine if we are the right fit for each other. A coaching relationship is based on trust and respect hence it is important that we are both comfortable working together.

Design Outcomes

Once a coaching relationship is established, we will identify the areas which the client would like to focus on e.g. career, relationships, health, finances etc. and define clear outcomes for the coaching period. Each coaching period is typically 3 months.

Coaching Sessions

In each session the client will choose the topic of conversation. Depending on the complexity of the topic, each session can build on the previous or, can be a new topic. “Homework” may also be assigned to enable deeper insight.

How much does a coaching package or program costs?

The price of a coaching program or package varies greatly depending on the transformation you are aiming for. If this is the first time you are working with a coach, I have starter packages that focuses on understanding yourself and self awareness.
